My name is Jessica. I am a retired Police Officer from California and a Mom to two boys, well three if you count my husband. After having my second son I decided I wanted to stay home, which was easier said than done.
My husband (also a police officer) and I decided to quit our jobs and move out of state to find a simpler life. We settled in a small town outside of Austin, Texas.
We love living in Texas! While Texas is by far a more affordable place to live, it is still an adjustment transitioning from a dual income to a single income family.
I have become a budget fanatic! That’s right, everything from cooking to home renovation is done on a budget. Gone are the days when I can go and buy whatever I want without factoring in our monthly expenses. But you know what? That is okay because I love a challenge!
Since buying our farmhouse in Texas, I have discovered my passion for renovations and DIY projects. This site is aimed at providing the everyday person with the information and tools needed to complete DIY projects and crafts without breaking the bank. I will also provide several tips and tricks I have learned over the last few years for making money and saving money in order to maximize your budget.
